(Almost) Week 29

For those of you who enjoy this kind of thing, here is a pic of my always growing belly.  If you know me at all, you know that in the past few years, I really have become semi camera shy...partly because I am not so photogenic anymore (it takes like 25 shots to get a good one of me), partly because I am overly critical of myself, and partly because I am behind the camera taking a million and one pictures of everyone else.

But I thought I should try to take a photo of the belly.  I feel like in the past month or 2 I have just gotten huge and since I have 10 more weeks to go (as of this coming Thurs), I wanted to take a few belly pics before I get so big and swollen and disgusting that I won't want to.  If I could find the photo of my elephant feet from when I was pregnant with Ava, I would show you so you know what I am talking about...scary stuff people!!
Anyways there it is!  And can I say this little man is so freaking active!  I get kicked repeatedly during the day and in not so comfortable places.  He is also started to do those big sweeping movements that kind of creep me out and every once in awhile he kicks or moves so fast that I feel like a human punching bag.  Not sure if this is a boy thing or what...Ava moved but not nearly as much.

Meanwhile, Ava continues to amuse us with her talk about the baby.  Just yesterday she told me that she would help change baby brother's diaper and that she "will take the poopy ones."  Ha!  Pretty sure she will get one look at that and decide that helping does not seem as much fun when it is real and not pretend.

What Ava Has Been Saying

Another round of the funny things Ava says.

1.“For Christmas for my baby brother can I ask Santa for some diapers? And a baby rattle so I can shake it at him?”

2. While driving in the car with me, Darren & my mom after our Christmas dinner "Hocus Pocus Freakin Docus!"  This was said out of nowhere and made all 3 of us adults crack up.  Not that we should be encouraging our 3 yr old to say "freakin."  Btw this is almost the line from one of her favorite books "Alice the Fairy." Obviously the book did not say "freakin."

3. One day while looking in the moonless sky:  “Where is the moon? Maybe it ran out of batteries.”

4. In ER after bumping her head, reading thru paperwork they gave us: “This says ‘Take me to college.’" No clue where she got this but we had to laugh.  She kept repeating that same line over and over.

5. After throwing up on the plane ride back from NYC “I’m a mess.” (said very sadly)

6. When the power went out in the house: "Where are the lights?"
Me: "The power went out."
Ava: "Maybe the house needs new batteries." (Apparently batteries can fix a lot of problems)

Getting Ready for Baby Brother

This weekend we finally got the old crib back out again and set it up in the guest room. (Sad that little man won't get his own room but he won't really know now will he?).  Ava was really excited about getting his room ready and when we were finally done, she wanted to crawl in it.  We did not let her as I am not sure of the weight limit but also because I don't want her to get in the habit of crawling in his bed...especially once he is here.

Speaking of his upcoming arrival....I went to the dr today and they went ahead and scheduled my c-section for April 7th. Woo hoo!  11 more weeks!  I'm happy they moved my due date up a week b/c then it moved my c-section date up too. (Oh and I guess I could have gone the other route since Ava was breech and the c-section was mandatory last time, but I figured I should stick with what I know.)  I am also scared if I try the natural delivery that it will result in a c-section anyways and I'd rather just know what I'm getting into.  So unless he comes early, I only have 2.5 months to go!

Here is Ava showing us how excited she is about her brother arriving soon.  She talks to my belly & her brother quite a bit now and always says cute things.  "I love you baby brother." "Hi, I'm Ava. I'll take good care of you baby brother." etc.

Party time

We headed once again to another friend's birthday party...this time it was Tatum's party at JW Tumbles.  We had never been there for a party and it was super fun.  The kids ran around and then played several different games including one called "What Time is it Silly Fox?"  Ava had a blast.  She even got her face painted with a glitter high heel.

I looked over at her and was surprised to see her & Marin climbing up the wall.  By the end of the party, she climbed all the way to the top and rang the bell. Nice way to spend a rainy Saturday!

Cookie Time

Ava has been bugging me for awhile to make cookies so today we finally got around to doing it.

Ava dressed in her cute new apron she got for Christmas.
Then she helped roll out the dough before decorating.
And here's the finished products (I of course helped decorate some b/c after all it is fun!)
