Snow...again!

After it being 70+ degrees on Sunday, it was a bit crazy that this morning, it snowed. For real! It stuck to the ground and everything. Ava was so excited at the huge flakes falling that we scrambled to put on clothes and go play in it. I wasn't sure how long it would last so we had to take advantage of it while we could.
Ava had a lot of fun pretending to ice skate on the deck and she made lots of fun tracks.
We then made 2 snowmen and she insisted on carrot noses (thank goodness we actually had some baby carrots -- a little old but they worked!). She also insisted on a having a snowball fight which of course meant she tried to pummel me with her tiny snowballs. Everytime she hit me, she laughed so hard. And Darren eventually came home and was able to play in the snow for a bit with Ava too so of course, she had to try to have a snowball fight with him too.

Pajamas at School

Today was pajama & pancake day at school today and Ava was super excited about everyone wearing their PJs to school. When we got there and she saw teachers in pajamas, she kept telling me that everyone was "silly."

When Gaby walked in with owl pajamas on that Ava owns, she said "We match! We have owls!" - I just happened to snap a photo as she said this.
And here is a shot of all her friends playing in their pjs at drop off time. My favorite were Sienna's which were ladybugs complete with ladybug houseshoes. Too cute!

Granny Time & Other Stuff

Today was a full day of Ava & Granny time....

They played ball on the slide...a game Granny invented and that Ava loves.

They made "birthday cakes" in the sand complete with "candles" and then Ava helped Granny clean up.
Then Ava played with Darren with his old fire truck and Aunt Donna's old mini Raggedy Ann. She loves the vintage toys at G&P's house.

And finally Granny let Ava take Tiny Tears and Samantha into the bath. Ava had fun washing their hair but I really felt bad for Samantha who spent the majority of bathtime face down in the tub drowning...poor doll (you can see her barely in the back of this photos floating around).

Oh and here is a great shot of Smokey that I took on the deck during our break from working. Such a beautiful dog!

Another Conroe Trip

We headed down to Conroe this weekend to do this and this.

So Jeanie/Granny spent a good amount of time watching Ava. Which frankly, was fine by Ava. She had a great time hanging with Jeanie all weekend and several times she even wanted to go to Granny rather than me! She had THAT much fun!

Here they are reading "Little Bear" one of Ava's fave shows and books.

Then after a hard day of work, we all headed to the Woodlands Mall to take Ava to the carousel there. After watching Team Umizoomi, Ava has been all about carousels so we thought we would take her for a ride. Of course, Ava had other plans and decided she did not want to ride. So what did we do? Darren & I rode instead...like the big dorks we are. For some reason, Darren picked an animal that didn't even go up and down...what is the point in that?

Me waving at Ava...(FYI I rode some weird long eared bunny that Darren thought was a cat)
Darren doing his best pagaent wave (he rode the super cool giraffe that was stationary - lame!)

And here is Ava, happy that her dorky parents rode the carousel. Note: I thought the carousel would be really fun but after going around like twice I was ready to get off. I guess it's more fun when you are a kid. Still kind of funny that 2 grown adults rode it by themselves.

But the trip was not a total bust. We headed to the Disney store to get Ava her much promised new panties for doing such a great job lately with the potty training. We started a week ago and she has very little accidents thus far. Still wearing a pullup outside of the house but tonight marked the first ever public toilet attempt and it was....drumroll please...a success!
Back to the Disney store...here is Pops waiting in the dressing room for us to finish our shopping. G&P were such good sports since Ava played around in there for like 30 minutes before we finally had to drag her out of the store.

Asleep

Been a long time since I have taken a photo of Ava sleeping. She slept for almost 3 hours the other day and I decided to wake her up but before I did, I had to snap this little gem...she just looks so cute sleeping with her mouth open.

A Dozen Things Ava Has Said Recently

1. Upon seeing me in my hot pink pajama set. Ava: “Mommy you have a pretty dress on.”
Me: “It’s not a dress…it’s pants and a top.”
Ava: “You have beautiful pants.”

2. On way to the Tilsons for sleepover. “I want a dinosaur hug. And dinosaur kisses.”

3. When I was sick and upset “It’s okay Mommy. Ava’s here. It’s ok.”

4. While hugging Granny & Pops starts singing "Im so glad, you're my family" a song on Nick Jr. by the Laurie Berkner Band.

5. After seeing an ad in paper for a princess baby changing station "Oh my goodness!"

6. When singing "A dream is a wish your heart makes" from Cinderella she makes the word "heart" sound like "horny." So hilarious yet so inappropriate.

7. While avoiding naptime, “Hey open my gate. Right now. Not nice. Come have tea party. You can put my hair in pigtails. Mom let me out. We watch chickie movie with me? He's very nice. Cookies be cool. We make cookies. You see my toes? You know what this is? Granny & Pops birthday party. We have a party. Happy birthday to you." This is typical stream-of-consciousness from Ava. Oh and yes she has a gate on her room...makes it like a giant crib otherwise she gets up at 3am and won't go back to bed.

8. Me sitting on the floor in room b/c I am sick. Ava: “Mommy why you in timeout?”
Me: “I’m not in timeout, I feel sick.”
Ava plops down beside me “Ava sick too.”

9. Ava tells me about Granny & Pops after their visit. Ava: "Pops took off his glasses and put on his man-jamas. Granny had on lady-jamas." Oh the things an almost 3 yr old says. Man-jamas still cracks me up...and I do now refer to my pajamas as "lady-jamas."

10. After hearing me flush the toilet in her bathroom…"You did it! Do you want a big Dora sticker?”

11. Me to bad driver in front of me: “Move it buddy!” Ava: (laughs) “You silly Mommy. Move it buddy!” (laughs again).

12. After peeing in the potty, let’s friend Sienna try to use it and says “That’s great, Sienna!” She's quite the cheerleader.
