End of June Randomness

Some random iPhone photos from the past week.

Ava & Ryan's first ride in the car cart together at HEB.
Fun tent time in the living room.
Ava's idea of a good time: wrapping Ryan up in a huge blanket and then posing for photos.

Fishing

We did a lot of fishing over the weekend on Lake Conroe.  Even Ava got in on the action.  She helped dig up some worms (which I was shocked at -- cannot believe she touched them!)
and got all her gear on.  Check out her new hot pink fishing rod courtesy of Darren.
Here she is showing me she actually will touch worms.  Me? Not so much.

Granny, Pops, Darren & Ava all got on the boat to go fishing out on the open water while I stayed behind with Ryan.

And success!

Visiting Ashlen

While Ava was off swimming with Granny, Pops & Daddy, Ryan & I headed over to see Rosemary and Ashlen at their house.

Sadly I did not take too many photos because Ryan was getting into all of their TV stuff (typical!) and Ashlen was cracking me up too much with her dance moves but I did get this shot of these 2 cuties.

And little Ms. Ashlen is all sorts of fun.  I was so glad to catch up with Rosemary & her little girl.

Montgomery Library

We also hit up the Montgomery Library.  Ava has been asking me to go to the library all summer and I keep forgetting so it was about time we went.  She even took Daddy doll.

Posing with the statue outside:

And playing computer games/listening to books on the computer.  Ryan really wanted to get into trouble here.  Not only was he messing with all the computer equipment but he thought it was fun to pull books off the shelves.  Needless to say, we did not stay as long as we had wanted.

Most importantly though, is that Darren was able to drive down today (a day early) so Ava finally got to see him again.

Conroe Day 2

Day 2 on our little trip started off a little sad.  Ava was still missing Darren and insited on carrying his Daddy doll everywhere we went.  So glad we have these dolls as lately Ava has used them to get over her separation issues.  I think she slept with this doll every night she was away from Darren.

Look at that sad face (I know she is smiling but you can tell she is sad)

The morning self portrait that I took and sent to Darren...we are all doing our sad, "I miss you" faces.
After that, Granny & I took the kiddos to the Woodlands Children's museum.  It was awesome! The perfect size for the 5 and under set.  Not too big and it had so many fun things.

Ryan's favorite things were the big construction/dinosaur pit and the grocery store and Ava loved everything but probably could have spent all day in the playhouse and store area.  She especially loves ringing people up at the cash register.

Then we went to Los Cucos (2 doors down) for lunch!  Yay!  Our LC closed down and we really miss the green sauce so we were excited to get to eat there again.  After sending this photo to Darren, he responded with "Hurtful."  He was bummed to have missed out.

And at the end of day, Ryan and I took some photos together.

Road Trip

To break up our summer a bit, me & the kiddos headed down for a week to visit with Granny & Pops.  Darren was at work and was going to join us for the weekend so it was a road trip with just me & the little ones.

Ava is getting really good at packing her clothes for trips these days.  I tell her how many of each thing and she finds them, folds them and lays them out so I can double check it.  Impressive!
On our trip down, we stopped in Giddings at the Dairy Queen for lunch.  And of course we had to send some photos to Daddy to show him what we were doing.  Ava was excited to see G&P but was already missing her Daddy and was not sure if she was going to be ok with not seeing him for a few days.
This was probably Ava's part of the first day...storytime with Granny.  She loves having G read to her.

McFadden Visit

Cort & Jack recently moved into their new house over in Barton Hills so we finally headed over there to see the new place.  We spent a lot of time in the yard playing with the hose, kiddie pool and water table and the kids had a blast!

Watch out Ryan, Ava is going to get you!!

The boys...all wet.
Ava & Griffin giving big hugs on the couch
And Cortney and her little man Guthrie...he likes to give me sad face when I take photos I've noticed.

Cousins

Silly Kids

I love the things the kids do sometimes.  They are just plain silly.  For instance, the other day, Ava told us that Monday would be her day to sleep in (probably because Darren and I alternate who gets to sleep in on the weekend).  We kind of laughed because Ava NEVER sleeps late.  So on Monday when she woke up well past 7 (unheard of!), I told her she slept late. And she looked at me and said "Mom, I TOLD you it was my day to sleep in."

Then, there is this:

Ryan just loves to do that position.  I think he spends at least 30 minutes a day looking at the world upside down.  He was doing it the other night and Ava decided she wanted to look back at him. So they giggled and stayed that way for longer than I would have thought.  Darren calls that Ryan's version of Tebowing.

Then the other day, Ava asked to play a game on my phone while we were driving somewhere.  She hadn't asked in awhile so I let her.  Several days later, I was looking through my photos and found these.  I guess she decided to take some photos while she had my phone. Not too bad actually!  And I am actually in a photo!

I'm still trying to figure out what photo program she used to take them...I know it wasn't Instagram because they are not in my feed.

And finally, my silly kids were giggling in the backseat on the way home the other day.  When we got home to the garage and took this video to see what exactly they were doing.

Haircuts

We took the kids to get haircuts today.  Ava has been wanting to cut her hair short but we had to wait until after her dance recital.  And Ryan, well he had a bit of crazy hair going on.  Long bangs in the front and old man hair covering his ears...

and the ever popular baby mullet going on in the back.
Here is a before shot of both kiddos.
And check out how long Ava's hair was!
Ryan started off his first haircut by being happy but he quickly decided he would rather just get out and run around.  I'm always amazed the people can cut babies hair as they squirm around but she did a pretty good job.
And here's the after...kind of hard to tell from this picture but Ava got 3-4 inches cut off and Ryan now has an actual hair style and looks much more like a toddler than a baby.
