Babies

Today we had a playdate with one of my oldest friends, Carla, her sister Jennifer and all our kids.  I have known Carla since I was 3 or 4 and we were best friends throughout preschool & elementary.  We have been getting together this past year since we both live in Austin and were both pregnant and due around the same time.

Here is Ryan and Carla's daughter Sarah...they are exactly 2 weeks apart and look like they are the same size!  So cute.
It was really great catching up with Jennifer as well.  She was good friends with my sister Gabe when they were younger.  She brought her two beautiful daughters Julia & Natalie over to play.  Julia and Ava are the same age and although the home part of the playdate was a bit awkward for the girls (they were all shy and i guess Ava was a little hesitant about sharing her toys with new friends), when we finally went out to lunch, Ava had so much fun with Julia.  She kept telling me on the drive home that her new best friend was fun and that they would be spending Halloween together. No idea where that came from!  Too bad they are moving to North Carolina.

I will defintely be getting Ryan together with Sarah again.  Once Ava goes back to school, it will be nice to have someone with a baby Ryan's age to hang out with.

Btw, I tried my hardest to find a photo of Carla & I when we were younger but for some reason the pictures of me from that age have gone missing..will have to check with my mom to see if she has them!

Sleepover with Me-Mommy

Darren headed out of town this weekend for a friend's wedding and I stayed home with the 2 kiddos.  I had my mom come over and hang out with us and spend the night one of the nights.  Ava was beyond thrilled that Me-Mommy was coming over for a slumber party.

A rare photo of my mom & Ava (I feel like we have no photos of my mom with the kids).  Check out Darren's old jersey that Ava is wearing...too cute!

And mom & the kiddos...great photo of all 3-- how did that happen?
We had a great time and I was happy to have my mom helping out.  And it was nice for her to finally see Ryan out of his car seat (she usually sees him when we go out to eat and he is asleep!)

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the best dad I know (other than my own dad & Darren's).
Ava was excited for Darren to open his gifts...especially the Legos.
And here is the photo that Ava & Ryan took for the picture frame Ava made.  My cuties!
I wanted to put this one in the frame because of Ryan's little sly smile but decided to pick the one that was better of both of them (I think I took like 20 photos just to get 1 good one!)

2 Month Comparison

Since Ryan is now 2 months old, I thought I'd give you his stats compared to Ava's at the same age.

Ryan is now 10 lbs 15 oz (25%) & 22 inches long (15%).
 Ava was 10 lbs 7 oz (25%) and 21 3/4 inches long (20%).

So as you can see they are actually pretty close in size even though I feel like Ryan is bigger...guess he is just a bit heavier compared to his height.

And just so you can see what that looks like, here are the kiddos (both in blue and laying on the sheep rug).

A Smile

Ryan is Mr. Smiley these days...still not getting smiles all the time but usually right after he eats and gets playtime, he smiles a lot.  And of course, Ava currently gets the most smiles.  Hardest part?  Trying to capture a photo of him smiling.  Either he freezes up like a deer in headlights when he sees the camera or phone or he moves so much it's blurry.

Example of his big but completely blurry smile:
And a little half smile I managed to snap real quick before he froze up. (Nice tongue buddy).
And just because I feel like oversharing today...here's something Ava said to me as I was changing Ryan's diaper this morning.  (As she excitedly points to Ryan's boy parts) "Daddy has one of those on his bottom (she always says bottom when she refers to anything she sees down there...a bit confused I think)!"  I of course stifled my laughter and told her that yes he does, and that those are boy parts & that's why he & Ryan have them. Case closed for now.

Ava (and I'm guessing most 4 year olds) love to point out things like that...this reminds me of a hilariously funny story that Jeanie(Granny) told me once about when she & Ava went to the bathroom but the details of said story are all fuzzy now.  But I do remember it was similar to this and we died laughing about the incident.

If anyone is curious as to what projects I have been busy with in my spare time (surprisingly I find time for my hobbies) check out my project blog to see the latest.  http://www.mokru.blogspot.com/

Dress Rehearsal

So I managed to upload the dance recital dress rehearsal video that I mentioned before.  Still waiting on the real video of the recital to arrive in the mail.

Gotta love this video though because Ava had something stuck to her shoe and just could not shake it...literally.  Thankfully this did not happen at the actual recita,l but we did enjoy both performances and got a good laugh about the whole thing...too cute!  Brings back memories of my old dance recitals.

8 Weeks Old (Yesterday)

A little guy I know is almost 2 months old!  Time is flying although I still want to make him older than he is.  Here is a great shot taken by Ava with my iPhone this morning.
And here are both kiddos lounging in my lap...so sweet.
And I almost got a photo of him smiling...this is more of a half smile and he was moving around a lot so it's kind of blurry.  But proof that he sometimes does smile.  Too bad when the camera or phone is out, he stops!  Imagine that!
And then yesterday while doing some tummy time, Ryan rolled from his stomach to his back.  I thought it was a fluke but then he did it again.  I of course did not get a video of it because I was not expecting it to happen again.  But then today, he did it again twice!  This time I got a little video on my iPhone...
